Step 2. Prepare the Required Documents
To submit an application, you will need:
- An application for the affixing of an apostille (available at the Public Service Center or on the eGov portal).
- The document to be apostilled (the original or a notarized copy).
- An identity document.
- A receipt confirming payment of the state duty.
- A notarized power of attorney (if the documents are submitted by a representative).
Step 3. Submit the ApplicationЛично через НАО «Государственная корпорация «Правительство для граждан» (ЦОН) или онлайн через портал «электронного правительства» egov.kz.
Step 4. Await the ResultThe service processing time is up to two business days. The amount of the state duty is 50% of the monthly calculation index (MCI) for each document.
The procedure for affixing an apostille in Kazakhstan is governed by the following regulatory acts:
1) Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated April 24, 2001 No. 545 “On Measures to Implement the Provisions of the Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents”
2) Order of the Acting Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 27, 2020 No. 58 “On Approval of the Rules for the Provision of the Public Service ‘Apostilling of Official Documents Originating from Justice Authorities, Civil Status Registration Authorities and Other Government Authorities, as well as Notaries of the Republic of Kazakhstan’”
3) Joint Order dated November 4, 2021 No. 950 “On Approval of the Unified Rules for Affixing an Apostille”
By way of example, if it is necessary to apostille a birth certificate issued by a civil status registration authority:
1) Determine that the competent authority is the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2) Collect the required documents: the original certificate, an identity document, and a receipt confirming payment of the duty.
3) Apply at the nearest Public Service Center or submit an application via egov.kz.
4) Receive the apostilled document within the prescribed period.
